ARC Review: Don't Get Caught by Kurt Dinan

Don't Get Caught10:00 tonight at the water tower. Tell no one. -Chaos Club

When Max receives a mysterious invite from the untraceable, epic prank-pulling Chaos Club, he has to ask: why him? After all, he's Mr. 2.5 GPA, Mr. No Social Life. He's Just Max. And his favorite heist movies have taught him this situation calls for Rule #4: Be suspicious. But it's also his one shot to leave Just Max in the dust...

Yeah, not so much. Max and four fellow students-who also received invites-are standing on the newly defaced water tower when campus security "catches" them. Definitely a setup. And this time, Max has had enough. It's time for Rule #7: Always get payback.

Let the prank war begin.

That was the funnest book I have read in a while. This book is truly a must read. In this book we follow Max Cobb, through a very interesting year of high school. We watch as he gets pranked, to him and his team pranking other people, to the end of his high school year. This book had really awesome characters, it was funny, and it was fun.

This book was so funny!  I was laughing by (I was reading on my Kindle so my page numbers may be off) around the third page. I wasn't laughing on every page, but when I was laughing, I was really laughing.

One of the reasons I loved this book so much was because I was able to connect with Max really well. I'm the person that nobody notices, I'm the person who doesn't do anything fun, I'm the person who wheezes like a two pack a day smoker after just running twenty feet! That was one reason that I loved the book, because I was able to really connect with Max when I usually aren't able to really connect with the main character.

Let's get this straight, this isn't the book to read if you are looking for a book with lots of feeling (there are some feels in this book though), this isn't the to read if you want a big sweet romance (there is some romance though), and this isn't the book to read if you are looking for a big metaphoric message (though I thought that there was a little bit of that in this book). This is a fun book about teenagers pranking people. And let me tell you, Kurt Dinan does it really well.

Overall, this was a fun, action packed book with a main character that most people will be able to connect to. Also, there are a bunch of mentions to one of my favorite TV shows, Leverage. Is that cool or what? I highly reccomend.

5/5 Points
A new favorite!

  1. I'm glad you enjoyed this book, Anna! I've never heard of it before but it seems really humorous and light, something I might pick up now as I'm trying to get out of a reading slump. Lovely review!
