Let's Discuss Why Blogging is the Absolute Worst thing of Ever

Let's discuss why blogging is bad. We always hear about how blogging is super fun, really easy, and can only lead to fun things in your life. But NO. Blogging isn't always all that's it's cracked up to be. No, no, no. In fact, there are quite a few downsides to it. So, today I thought that I would give y'all seven reasons that blogging isn't all that it's cracked up to be.

I first want to talk about this truly awesome thing, and different people use it in different ways. Some read, some play video games, some exercise, and then there are some who blog.  That's right, I'm talking about free time.

I'm not sure why, but when I first started blogging I thought that I would be able to write a well written post, have fabulous images, and get everything well formatted in fifteen minuets. Everything done quick and easy! But don't be fooled, because nothing is ever as easy as it seems!

In fact, a lot of bloggers use up a lot of their free time to create these posts. Okay, it may or may not just be me, and it may or may not be because I suck at most things revolving around my blog. But, it's important to remember that blogging takes work and time. And sometimes you spend all night redesigning your blog and making all new banners and posts only to realize that it's not three in the morning and you have to get up in four hours. #oops

Can we just talk for a minute how many bloggers there are? It is so easy to go to Google and type "book blogger." You can easily find hundreds of bloggers by a simple Google search, and, if you started blogging for one of the same reasons that I did, that a whole lot of blogs to comment on, and a whole lot of bloggers to try and become friends with.

It's really hard to visit all of the blogs. We can all make a conscious effort, but eventually our emails explode from all of the notifications that we get. So, a new way of keeping track of our blogging friends is in order! Which is why I'm trying a new way of doing things...

Psssssssst! If you go to the page named "My Blogger Bookmarks," you can learn more about it and even be added. ;)

Now, number three is actually a bad thing DISGUISED as a fun thing, and it's designing your blog. It starts out fine, you're choosing your template, you're looking at the different backgrounds, but don't be fooled! This is just what grabs you, and you rarely know how much of a hold it actually has on you.

Because it's now five hours later and you're STILL LOOKING AT THE DAMN COLOR CHOICES.

Luckily, most bloggers rarely feel the need to redesign their blog. Just remember, whenever you go to redesign your blog you'll have to give up a piece of your soul to the design gods, and rarely are they merciful with how long they keep you occupied looking at the itty, bitty details of your blog.

 So you're looking at my previous three points and thinking, "Wow, that doesn't seem so bad! I'm willing to use up some of my free time, navigate the thousands of bloggers, and sacrifice myself to the blog gods," but have you ever run out of ideas before?

There is this period when you first start blogging where you have so many ideas, you're writing like crazy, and everything is is going great. Then you hit a block. It hits some earlier than others, but it always has the same results. There are no more ideas in your brain. None. Zilch. Zero. It's like your ideas have been eaten by an idea eating beaver.

It can be hard to get out of these idea slumps. Hell, I've been in one for the past year! Just a quick warning, these slumps are highly contagious, and may or may not cause an addiction to candy and/or cake.

I want to take a little trip back to free time, because I noticed something when I started blogging. I was spending all of the time I was previously using to read, to blog! Isn't that an oxymoron!

You should've seen my face when I realized that instead of reading, I had just started to blog about books, when I wasn't actually reading any...

So, I had to start setting aside time specifically for me to read. Because if you don't read, you won't have much to blog about. #themoreyouknow

There is also the fact that (for most people), once you start book blogging, your love for books will spread throughout other social media. Bookstagram, Goodreads, and even Twitter. When we say we talk about books everywhere, we mean it literally.

Again, doesn't seen like a bad thing. Sort of like when you are first added to a group text. It's fun at first, and then it's not.

So, grab your camera and your phone, and join us on the dark side. Where we have civil discussions about whether beats are tasty, and where your phone will NOT STOP GOING OFF.

And finally, one of the scariest troubles that a blogger will face, technological issues. *insert horror movie scream*

Your computer dies while your typing up your post, blogger doesn't publish your post when you scheduled it to go up, your post gets formatted weird and you have to reformat the entire thing; technological issues are the bane of a blogger's existence.

Sometimes it isn't your fault, and sometimes it is. But no matter what, it always sucks. *cue more screaming*

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I really don't want to scare people away from blogging, because in reality I had trouble coming up with seven bad things about blogging. I just thought that it would be interesting to take a look at the negatives of blogging instead of the positives. So, what do you think is the worst part of blogging? Let me know in the comments. :)
  6. This is such a fun post! I love blogging, but MAN is it tough. I spent at least half an hour trying to get my pictures to format the way I wanted them on my most recent post today and I just about cried when I got it. And of course that does even include the time I spent creating my main image and actually writing the post. Sigh.
