The Weekly Recap: The Year of DNFs (Week of 2/5/17)

Happy Sunday! I'm linking up to The Sunday Post, hosted by The Caffienated Book Reviewer; Stacking the Shelves, hosted by Tynga's Reviews; and Book Photo Sundays, hosted by Rabbit Ears Book Blog.

-MY LIFE-
Hello everyone! Thank you for all of your well wishes last week. I'm happy to report that I'm a lot better now, and even made it in for my class on Tuesday. Of course, my teacher has not posted my grades for my psychology tests yet, and now I have six tests ungraded. Hopefully I passed them all, but as time goes on I'm feeling less and less sure. I wasn't able to take my Instagram photos last weekend, so I ended up not posting for a couple of days. I'm taking photos tonight, and will hopefully be able to catch up soon. I DNFed Blood Rose Rebellion due to the fact that it was an extremely boring book. This year my plan is to read books that I want to, and if I'm hating them/are bored with them, just to DNF them. I don't have the time to read books that I really don't want to read. I guess that's my week. So, from everyone here (just me really, maybe my dog if he decides to stop napping), have a good week, and happy reading! :)

  1. Ooh hope you like Ready Player One. that was pretty fun. I DNF too if it's not working, I mean there's just too many books you know? Although I haven't had to DNF lately (knocks on wood). I'm not sure where I draw the line, it depends I guess but I usually know by 20% or so I would think. If I'm bored to tears. :)

    1. Ya, I feel like there are different levels of boredom. There's 'the book is reaching a slow spot,' and the 'why am I reading this' levels. ;)

  2. Glad you are feeling better. I don't DNF often, but I've come to a similar decision. I just want to read all the good books and if I'm not enjoying the process of reading a book then I don't have time for it. On to the next one. Thankfully, 2017 has been full of really good books for me so far. Unfortunately, I feel like I'm about to come down off the high of such great books. Hope you have a great week this week!

  3. I hear you on the DNFs, I have already DNFed 4 books this year and I have one on hold deciding if I am going to try to keep going or DNF. I got no time for boring books I have no interest in.

Hope this week brings great books to read!

    1. Ya. I usually don't DNF books unless I'm REALLY not enjoying them. What does that say about my reading year?!?

  5. I'm glad to hear you are feeling better:). As regards DNFs - I am very lucky in that I don't often come across a book I really don't like. But if I do, then I do not persevere. What is the point? I refuse to waste my precious writing time on negative reviews, when there are so many marvellous books out there to be read and reviewed.

    1. Ya, but I do need to write a review for Blood Rose Rebellion because it was an ARC. :(

  6. I get frustrated when I have to DNF books, mostly because I tend to be very selective when I buy or request books. But...my selection process is now undergoing another overhaul.

Usually I give a book 50 pages or so, maybe 100 if there is hope for the book.

    Then...no guilt! Just move on.

Thanks for sharing, and here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

  7. Glad you are feeling better. I hope you pass your tests! I usually just drop books that I'm not interested in since as you said, is just a waste of time. I love your photos!

  9. Oh how frustrating that you're still waiting on exam results! I know what you mean about doubting yourself as time passes. I hope you get your results soon and are happy with them all.

And I'm glad you're better as well!
