Synopsis: What if you knew you had just met the other part of your soul—the one who could take away all the pain and loneliness—but no one believes you because the rugged stranger from the woods is nowhere to be found? Would you search for him? Would you be strong enough to believe he exist somewhere out in the darkness where he found you? And if you were to finally find the stranger from the woods and learn he is like no other tale that has ever been told… would you still have the courage to love him?
Rose has no time for romance because her father has passed away from an illness plaguing her small town, and now her mother has also contracted the illness, leaving Rose’s two younger siblings to be her responsibility. But when her best friend forces her to be young for a night and celebrate her twentieth birthday with a bonfire and friends, Rose meets a stranger from the woods, and Rose soon learns he is no stranger at all. In fact, this magical being is trying to keep her… alive.
Two bloods of one will bring down the shadows, to cast, no more...

-MY MINI-REVIEW-
You guys! I LOVED this book! So, this isn't what I was expecting AT ALL. This book had a lot of twists and turns, and ended up setting up book two perfectly. But what really stood out to me was Rose's relationships with Ryder and Gunner. They were just so cute together! I cannot wait to see how they live with Rain, and how their relationship grows. I thought that all of the characters were really realistic and likeable, the action and story pacing was wonderful, and my anticipation for book two? Very, very high. So, like I say after all of my reviews for Adam's books, I highly recommend.

Synopsis: Sixteen-year-old Anna Arden is barred from society by a defect of blood. Though her family is part of the Luminate, powerful users of magic, she is Barren, unable to perform the simplest spells. Anna would do anything to belong. But her fate takes another course when, after inadvertently breaking her sister’s debutante spell—an important chance for a highborn young woman to show her prowess with magic—Anna finds herself exiled to her family’s once powerful but now crumbling native Hungary.
Her life might well be over.
In Hungary, Anna discovers that nothing is quite as it seems. Not the people around her, from her aloof cousin Noémi to the fierce and handsome Romani Gábor. Not the society she’s known all her life, for discontent with the Luminate is sweeping the land. And not her lack of magic. Isolated from the only world she cares about, Anna still can’t seem to stop herself from breaking spells.
As rebellion spreads across the region, Anna’s unique ability becomes the catalyst everyone is seeking. In the company of nobles, revolutionaries, and Romanies, Anna must choose: deny her unique power and cling to the life she’s always wanted, or embrace her ability and change that world forever.

Wait...do you guys hear that? Oh ya, that's the sound of my snoring in the background as I attempt to read this dud of a book. I only managed to read 53% of this book before I decided that I didn't want to waste my time anymore. What's so sad about it was that it started out so promising! There was a good bit of action, and I wanted to know more! But guess what? Nothing else really happened. Just a lot of self contemplating, and a lot of talk about dresses. I could see so many ways that the book would end up more exciting, but not a lot happened. And when something did happen, it was drudged down by the writing. So overall, I think that this book had a lot of potential, but it just didn't work out. If you're a big fan of historical fiction, then you might have better luck with this one.

-MY MINI-REVIEW-
This book was exactly what I expected. So, not much. I don't know, I'm usually really hesitant going into books I got for free on Amazon. I mean, this wasn't a bad book, but it wasn't fabulous. One thing that I really liked about this book was that it was a really fast read. I read the entire book in one infusion, and it was nice to just dive into this world, and not have to leave it. So, while I probably wouldn't buy this one for anyone, it was nice to completely immerse myself into the story and characters.
Sad about Blood Rose Rebellion. That cover has something I like. Rain isn't one I've heard of before. Sounds like it could be a good one.
ReplyDeleteYa, I was really disappointed by Blood Rose. :(
DeleteSorry to hear about Blood Rose Rebellion- that's a bummer. Rain looks kinda cool with that awesome cover- and nice that it was a good surprise!
